Jianfeng Ridge

Jianfeng Ridge lies across the north of Ledong County, about 100 kilometres away from the urban areas. The major ridge, Jianfeng Ridge, is 1,412m above sea level, likes a sword pointing toward the sky. Within the area of the Jianfeng Ridge is several million acres of tropical primitive rainforest, of which 24,000 acres are delineated as natural protection zone. The main protection targets are the tropical rainforest, and precious species like gibbons. The protected vegetation include those peculiar to 1,000 kinds, 158 families, 487 attributes. The protected animal species are rare animals and birds such as blackcrown gibbon, peacock , leopard, water deer, python, fox, etc.

        Jianfeng Ridge has such a treasure of unique tourist resources, such as bizarre natural environment and peculiar vegetation and animals that it has roused interests in China as well as other foreign countries. From 1979 to 1980, related organizations of the United Nations and other study tours from countries like Japan and England came here to conduct surveys. Study tours from China itself are even more frequent.
